Loony Lib Dems boot out councillor for, er, supporting families

In Cambridge, Hunter's old stomping ground, a long-serving and respected councillor has been kicked out of the Dim Lebs for suggesting that more homes should be built to cater for families. Most new builds are either one or two-bedrooms - no good for young families. His comments about the need for family homes were later picked up by the council's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group, which said they could be construed as "heterosexist", unintentionally biased towards heterosexuals. Councillor Hipkin is said he was deeply hurt by the claim. Too bloody right! This, dare I say it, is political-correctness gone mad! More here.

Hunter has always believed that the Dim Lebs are a dustbin party for various malcontents, especially from the Left. The moral of this story? If you don't want your Town Hall to be run, or continue to be run, by Yellow Peril/ PC / Trots, don't vote Lib Dem on May 3rd. Vote Conservative.

I would say vote neither, Justin.

I keep dropping the hint everywhere that I'd love to see 'none of the above' on our polling cards and for these votes to be counted and broadcast. For too long we've had 'spoiled papers' which probably represent some sort of consciencious objection rather than the mindless act that we are led to believe they are.

That's sad, EK. Bet you'd vote for Mr. N.

It is certainly true in Local elections where intellectual midgets are usually found to stand. I would like to see a write in box and a none of the above box in all ballots.

I guess that's why you once tried to join the Libs, Justin!

Justin, take the story with a pinch of salt.

We had to expel a member of our group in North Norfolk about two years ago. He claimed it was for speaking out against Lib Dem policy and was because we didn't allow dissent. In fact, it was because of many reasons, some legal, but a number of things that could not and cannot still be discussed.

He still writes to the local papers claiming the Lib Dems are this and that and how we are all undemocratic because we picked on a councillor for speaking his mind.

The fact that we were told by the Tories that "they didn't want him either" when we threw him out said much and spoke volumes.

So again, don't let your political colours sway you in to believing everything you read about the Lib Dems.

Don't tell me, Nich, to take stories like this with a "pinch of salt" - advice better reserved for Dr. Pack!

yes I would vote for Newmania, Justin. On entertainment value alone. But seriously - I feel that mainstream parties deliberately stifle populist ideals. And what is wrong with populism ? Don't they trust us ?
